Sarai Hernandez received her MA in Mental Health Counseling from Florida Gulf Coast University. She also recieved a BA in Psychology and a undergraduate minor in Women Studies from the University of Connecticut Sarai has clinical experience working with children, adolescents, individuals and families. Sarai works with all ages and deals with issues concerning depression, anger, anxiety, school age issues, divorce/seperation, attachment disorders, sexual abuse, sex trafficking, self harming behaviors, eating disorders and many other mental health concerns.
Her areas of expertise include working with children and adolescents. Sarai has had the privilege of working with children and adolescents in various school settings. In addition to working at preschool settings, she has worked as an AVID tutor and assisted in establishing CFES (College for Every Student) for a middle school. Sarai believes childhood and adolescence is a crucial time period in which children and adolescence are susceptible to their own surroundings. When working with this population, it is important to be flexible in approach and assist in putting their world back together.
Sarai’s treatment approach includes Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Reality Therapy and expressive therapies. SFBT is Future-focused, goal-oriented therapy that focuses on what the client wants to achieve through therapy.
These types of treatment approaches provide support and practical feedback to help clients resolve current problems as well as longstanding patterns. By providing a safe, welcoming and friendly environment for clients, she is able to serve people from all walks of life.
Sarai is a member of the American Counseling Association, American Association of Christian Counselors and Gulf Coast Mental Health Counselors. She is also Bilingual; Fluent in English and Spanish.
